Exact and limiting solutions of fluid flow for axially oscillating cylindrical pipe and annulus

Abstract The Navier–Stokes equations have been solved to derive the expressions of velocity distributions for two cases: (1) oscillatory flows inside and outside an axially oscillating cylindrical pipe, (2) flow annulus. In both cases, in addition exact profiles, particular emphasis has given determination approximate high frequency low or quasi-static limits. It is shown that, sufficiently large value appropriate parameter, distribution longitudinally annulus can be approximated as a superposition pipe radius $${\bar R_o}$$ R ¯ o R_i}$$ i , where are inner outer radii annulus, respectively.
